Your travel itinerary could look like...
Day 1
PM - Arrival
Upon arrival into Tokyo you will be met by your tour guide at the airport, who will show you to your transfer and on to your accommodation.
Take some time at you accommodation to recover from a long day of travelling, before heading out for dinner with a view at the top of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
Day 2
AM - Tour of Tokyo
Experience Japanese culture at a street level as you board your own private bus to tour the city.
PM - National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation
After lunch, learn about the incredible advancements that Japan has made in science and technology over the years. From robotics to AI, Japan is at the forefront of innovation, all showcased in the state of the art facilities at Miraikan.
In the evening check out the the views from Odaiba Waterfront, from stunning illuminations on the Rainbow Bridge, to the Statue of Liberty.
Day 3
AM - Science Square Tsukuba AIST
In the morning take a trip to Science Square Tsukuba - the National Institute of Advance Industrial Science and Technology. It's one of the largest public research organisations in Japan that focuses on the application of industrial technologies, and you will get a chance to see first hand how these are changing lives daily.
Whilst you are in the area why not pop next door to the Geological Museum. With over 150,000 registered specimens it provides the public the chance to learn about regional geology, the global environment, and geological hazards.
PM - Tsukuba Space Center JAXA
Visit the centre of the Japanese Governments space plans and get the chance to see the astronaut training facility and the 24-hour control centre.
After dinner, finish off an exciting day by visiting Akihabara. Japan's 'Electric Town' is a cultural centre for anime and manga lovers, and is also home to Japan’s most famous J-pop group, AKB48.
Day 4
AM = Meiji Shrine
Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and his wife in the early 20th century, the beautiful Meiji Shrine marks the move in Japan from a feudal state to a modern society.
Then take a chance to tour Tokyo's Harajuku district where you will see everything from Pokémon to goths and fashionistas.
PM - TEPIA Advanced Technology Gallery & Shibuya Crossing
Delve into the world of cutting-edge technology and innovation at the TEPIA Advanced Technology Gallery in Tokyo. This interactive museum showcases the latest advancements in science, engineering, and technology through engaging exhibits and hands-on displays.
After dinner take in one of Tokyo's most iconic landmarks, Shibuya Crossing. As the lights turn red be prepared for pedestrians to surge into the middle of the road to get across what might be the most famous road crossing in the world.
Day 5
AM - Maglev Exhibition Centre
The testing site for Tokyo's Nagoya train, the new state of the art train that is due to launch in 2027 that floats on electromagnets. You will be able to see a live test and have experts explain the technology behind the new and innovative approach to trains.
PM - Kawaguchiko
In the afternoon explore the Kawaguchiko area.First, you will visit Narusawa Ice Cave, a geological wonder, located at the base of Mt. Fuji. The cave experiences temperatures of 3 degrees celsius and is covered with ice all year-round, even at the height of summer. Just next door is the natural monument, Fugaku Wind Cave. This historically significant cave was used as a natural refrigerator before refrigeration equipment came into being. From here we will venture to Mt Fuji Radar Dome Museum to learn more about Mt Fuji’s weather tracking
Day 6
AM - Tokyo Skytree Campus
Pay a visit to the Tokyo Skytree Campus, a creation of the Chiba Institute of Technology. The campus is split into two areas. AREA I studies all things robot, and features many amazing tech developments including the disaster support robots used at Fukushima Power Plant. In AREA II, visitors learn about space technology, where they can enjoy a virtual space tour or a virtual moon landing experience.
PM - Sensoji Temple
In the afternoon take a walk through the district of Asakusa, and get an insight into ancient Tokyo. Discover the charming streets lined with traditional shops and street-food stalls as you make your way to the Sensoji Temple, one of Tokyo's most colourful and popular Buddhist Temples.
Day 7
AM - Departure
In the morning say your goodbyes to Tokyo, and reflect on your journey in the Japanese capital as you make your way to the airport. Be sure to arrive in plenty of time to catch you flight back to the UK
