Your travel itinerary could look like...

Day 1

South Korea City

Welcome to Seoul! Your South Korea STEM school trip starts here. You’ll be greeted at Incheon Airport by your Adventure Leader, who’ll help you transfer to your accommodation. Once you’ve checked in and settled yourself, you’ll meet them for a trip briefing. They’ll give you an outline of your week ahead and advice on adapting to Korean life.

Arriving in a new city can be a lot to take in. To get you accustomed to the area, your guide will take you out on an orientation walking tour of the local surroundings. You’ll get information on cultural differences, and key information on staying safe whilst out and about.

Day 2

Gyeongbokgung Palace

You’ll pay a visit to the stunning Gyeongbokgung Palace, a focal point of the city and once the main Royal Palace of the Joseon Dynasty. After spending some time exploring here, you’ll head uphill to the Bukchon Hanok traditional village. Filled with examples of traditional Korean architecture, take some time to wander the narrow, winding alleyways.

Get to trips with all things Hallyu at the HiKR Ground. Set up by the Korean Tourism Organization, it’s an interactive homage to all things K-culture. Using smart technology, students can explore K-pop, K-dramas, and Korean art.

Soak in the amazing views of the city from the second highest point in Seoul. Head up the N Seoul Tower for a fantastic experience on the observation deck.

Day 3

Myeongdong

Explore KBS ON, Korea’s first dedicated broadcasting exhibition hall. Located in the famed KBS broadcasting station, it offers students a chance to learn about the broadcast process, explore a museum on the industry, look around a real radio studio, and try their hand at being a news anchor!

The Digital Pavilion is a haven for Korean immersive technology, and is designed to introduce cutting-edge tech to the public. Spend some time looking around the purpose-built space where IT companies show off their products. There’s also the futuristic i-City, which has an ICT center where visitors can learn about the fundamentals of tech in a fun, interactive way.

This evening, spend some time in amongst the locals in Hongdae. A bustling, cultural district, the streets here are filled with dancers and musicians, meaning a walk through the area is never dull!

Day 4

 Samsung Innovation Museum

Take a visit to the Samsung Innovation Museum! Here, you’ll find exhibitions on the history of the company and the future of innovation within the international company. Students can learn about the historical developments in the technological industry at large, as well as the achievements and strides forward that Samsung has made on the international stage.

Are you ready for the strangest item on your itinerary? Get the students laughing and learning with a visit to Haewoojae Museum – Mr Toilet House! Following the establishment of the World Toilet Association, Sim Jae-deok built his home in the shape of a toilet. It’s now a quirky museum, filled with fun statues and exhibits on ‘toilet science’!

Top off a trip to Seoul with a visit to the COEX Mall. An underground sprawling labyrinth, it’s home to an incredible variety of things to do – including an aquarium! At the centre is the Starfield Library, which is home to over 50,000 books.

Day 5

Busan

Take an exciting journey on board the high-speed KTX, arriving in your second destination: Busan!

Discover the world of science at the Busan National Science Museum. Making their way through vehicle, spacecraft, and energy exhibitions, students will find interactive exhibits and displays showcasing scientific principles and concepts. They’ll also be exploring a planetarium and a science lab – which lets visitors conduct experiments!

Get the experience of a lifetime with a cruise on a luxury yacht! Departing from Bay 101 Yacht Club, you’ll take to the water to glimpse Busan from the water. You’ll pass by key city landmarks, including Haeundae, Gwangalli Beach, and the Gwangan Bridge.

Day 6

Seoul

Students spend an insightful morning at Busan National University, where they’ll meet PhD researchers studying aerospace and – quite literally – rocket science! The Rocket Propulsion Lab here specializes in the research and development of propulsion systems, and is one of the leading facilities of its kind in Korea.

You’ll then transfer back by KTX to Seoul.

On your last night of your Korea STEM school trip, you’ll have a chance to lead your students in a reflection session. Discuss your experiences, key learnings, and digest the new ideas you’ve encountered.
