Your travel itinerary could look like...

Day 1

AM - Arrival

Arrive in at your hotel in Shanghai. Drop off your bags and get comfortable before heading on out for the afternoon.

PM - Explore Shanghai

It’s your first afternoon. Shake hands with one of the world’s most developed cities as you explore three of its most famous areas, People’s Square, Nanjing Road and The Bund, to learn about China’s rapid urban development. Nanjing Road is the world’s longest shopping district, at 5.5km long and with over 1 million visitors a day! That’s 1/8 of London, 1/5 of Sydney or 1/9 of New York.

Day 2

AM - Yu Yuan Gardens and Bazaar

Take a chilled morning, strolling around the Yu Yuan Gardens to learn more about Chinese garden art. Yu in Chinese means pleasing and satisfying – and you’ll see why. Think lush greenery, serene waters and ornate pavilions. Then, try local delicacies or pick up some souvenirs at the Yu Yuan Bazaar, the heart of old Shanghai. For lunch, we recommend Shanghai’s famous Xiao Long Bao dumplings. Tweet us a photo if you want to be on the receiving end of some serious food envy!

PM - Shanghai's financial district

Next up, tour Shanghai’s fancy financial district, Lujiazui, and head to the top of the Shanghai Tower for a view of the city that you’ve spent the day exploring.

In the evening why not make the most of the city's lights with an evening cruise on the Huangpu River

Day 3

AM - Office tour

China is the world’s fastest growing economy. This is your chance to see why. Tour the offices of a successful business, receive a lecture, then participate in a Q&A.

PM - Flight to Guiyang

It’s time to say goodbye to Shanghai and hello to new experiences in Guiyang, just a 3-hour flight away.

Day 4

AM - Guiyang Big Data Centre

Start the next leg of your trip off bright and early at the Guiyang Big Data Centre. It was promoted by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology and the Guiyang Municipal People’s Government.

PM - 'FAST'

After lunch, visit “FAST”, the Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope. It’s known as the “Eye of Heaven”, because it’s a huge aluminium dish that can peer all the way into space.

Time your trip right and you could even have the chance to visit the Big Data Expo, the world’s first big data-themed expo held in May.

Day 5

AM - Flight to Beijing and walking tour

Jet to Beijing. In 3 hours, you’ll be in time for a guided walking tour through one of the city’s ancient hutong areas.

PM - Local meal

Why not end the day with food in a local restaurant.

Day 6

AM - Noitom

After breakfast, head for Noitom to learn all about (and use!) their VR and motion capture technology, used for the biggest sports games.

PM - Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City

Learn about China’s fascinating imperial history at Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is the world’s largest imperial palace and has been the home of 24 emperors! Stroll out to the former Imperial gardens, Jingshan Park, for spectacular panoramic views of Beijing.

In the evening get inspired by The Red Theatre Kung Fu Show

Day 7

AM - The Great Wall

Make your way to the outskirts of the city and take a 2-3-hour hike to a secluded and fantastically beautiful section of the Great Wall. This is one of the most famous sites in the world – but we know China’s ins and outs, so today we’re sidestepping the big tourist crowds.

PM - The Olympic Stadium

The host for the 2008 Olympic Games. The iconic Bird Nest stadium is located in Beijing. Why not stop off and see the place where Usain Bolt broke the 100m world record!

Day 8

AM - Chinese office tour

Spend a relaxing afternoon at the Summer Palace. Walk through the spectacular grounds and take a wooden boat across the palatial lake.

PM - Dinner in a local restaurant

Before you head back home, indulge in some magnificent Chinese cuisine one last time
