Nescot College: Introducing a new trip
How Diversity Study trips support the college in planning a new trip.
1. Establishing trip requirements
Upon receipt of the enquiry, Nadine, one of our Senior Consultants who has specialist and first-hand knowledge of Amsterdam arranged an initial call to establish the full details and requirements. We obtained desired inclusions, type and standard of accommodation, and preferred method of travel. Nadine and the group leader also discussed the itinerary and visits, both general cultural visits as well as educational activities. With the students being part of a Performing Arts course, it was key to ensure they could attend a live performance or show. After looking at a number of possibilities, it was decided a live comedy performance would be the preferred option. The group leader was also keen to include some general cultural attractions to ensure the students get a good overview of the city, and a glimpse into its history.
2. Study Trips expert building itinerary
Once we had the full brief from our group leader, Nadine can start to work with our suppliers and internal products team to build the tailor-made itinerary based on the group’s requirements. We approach a number of potential suppliers for each element to ensure the final package we create offers the best value, the most suitable itinerary and inclusions. All suppliers we use for academic groups are audited for health and safety purposes, using an independent and experienced consultant, to ensure peace of mind for our group leaders. Our vast database of audited activities offers a huge variety of cultural and educational visits, tours, and workshops to ensure we can cater to all courses and subjects. As a specialist in educational trips, this is a key part of our offering.
3. Confirming the booking
Our full quote is provided via the web-based browser and shows all requested inclusions as well as optional extras. We have included a Canal Cruise city tour to show the group the historic centre of Amsterdam, away from the traffic, plus a visit to the world-famous Anne Frank House, which offers an immersive and captivating experience to educational groups. In line with the Performance / Drama element of the course, we have included tickets for a comedy show and ensured this is an English-language event. Nadine has taken care of the timings for each visit to work for the overall itinerary and has included a public transport pass for the group, to provide easy and cost-effective travel around Amsterdam. The booking is confirmed via the browser-based booking portal, from which we then issue a booking confirmation for the booker.
4. Pre travel and on trip support
Our operations team take over a booking once it is confirmed, they handle the final pre departure preparations as well as issuance of any tickets, vouchers, boarding passes. The operations team ensured the hostel had an up-to-date rooming and dietary requirements list and the group leader was well prepared for the trip. If any questions arise during travel, or the group leader requires any additional elements or any amendments, our operations team will take care of this. Outside of office hours, our 24/7 emergency support team are available. The trip went smoothly, the students enjoyed their time in Amsterdam as well as the activities and we received positive feedback post travel.
